BAKED RED VELVET DONUTS

Super moist and spongy baked donuts in classic red velvet flavor topped with powdered sugar or classic vanilla icing. Need I say more?

INGREDIENTS

RED VELVET DONUTS

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk *
  • 1/2 Cup canola oil or vegetable oil
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp vinegar
  • 1 tbsp red food coloring

CREAM CHEESE FROSTING

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 oz cream cheese
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 splash milk or cream

INSTRUCTIONS

FOR THE RED VELVET DONUTS

  1. Preheat oven to 350 F. Generously coat 2 donut pans with baking spray and set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, shift together all-purpose flour, baking soda, salt, cocoa powder, and sugar. Set aside.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the egg, buttermilk*, canola oil, vanilla, red food coloring, and vinegar.
